I love this quote by Tony Robbins which says, “We are all addicted to our own behavior. The key to overcoming this addiction is to understand that the addiction is not in the behavior, but in the belief that the behavior is good.

The problem with addiction is that once you understand that the behavior is not good, you can’t work at it, in fact, you get weaker and weaker. The only way to break that cycle is to stop the behavior. Once you’ve removed the root cause of the addiction, the behavior will simply not happen.

There’s a lot of emphasis on the “death” part of the game and I’ll get into it more later, but the core idea is that death is the only ending for most of the characters, and the game is about stopping the behavior.

Deathloop tries to get in your head, but while the game isn’t about doing anything, if you play it long enough you will die of starvation. In a real world setting, it would be a great way to prevent obesity because this game will do everything, even though it’s only a game, to make you fall asleep and eat.
